How to Change the Air Filter on a Riding Mower
It is recommended that your engine air filter be cleaned or replaced every 50 operating hours. In dry, dusty conditions this should be done more frequently. The video instructions below will guide you through the process to clean or replace your air filter.
INSTRUCTIONS:
Step 1: Place your tractor on a flat, level surface. Turn the mower off, engage the parking brake and remove the ignition key. Allow the engine to cool. Then, disconnect the spark plug ignition wire.
Step 2: Remove the air cleaner cover from the engine and uninstall the air filter.
Step 3: Clean the paper element filter by tapping gently to remove dust. If the element is very dirty, replace it with a new one.
Step 4: Wash the foam element in mild detergent and water and allow it to dry completely. Note: Never use gasoline or low flash-point solvents for cleaning the air cleaner elements. Once the foam element is dry apply a few drops of clean engine oil and squeeze out all excess oil.
Step 5: Reassemble the foam and paper elements.
Step 6: Reinstall the assembled air filter inside the housing.
Step 7: Reinstall the air cleaner cover and ensure it is secure.
Step 8: Reconnect the spark plug ignition wire.
